Prof Michele Scardi
Michele’s current research activities include: a) neural networks as empirical models of ecological processes; b) applications of machine learning techniques to ecological problems; c) models of phytoplankton primary production at global scale; d) models for evaluating ecosystem productivity; e) development and application of data analysis techniques in ecology and zoology.
Michele is Full Professor of Ecology at the Department of Biology of the University of Rome Tor Vergata and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Doctorate in "Evolutionary Biology and Ecology" [DOT0327829] at the University of Rome Tor Vergata (he supervised 16 PhD students and three more are presently under his supervision). Michele is vice-president of CoNISMa, the Italian National Inter-University Consortium for Marine Sciences, and member of the Scientific Council of ISPRA, the Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research. He is also member of the Editorial Board of Ecological Informatics, Freshwater Biology and Scientific Reports and has been two times guest editor for Ecological Modelling.
ROLE IN BIOMEDAQU PROJECT
Michele will assist ESR4 in Artificial Neural Network-based data modeling for a prediction template for skeletal quality and application to reared fish. Further, Michele will be involved in the fifth Summer School on the topic of data mining.
